Resident Update November 2023

The Cairnbaan Community Trust has now been granted charitable status from OSCR as of 25/10/23 and our Charity Number is SC052905. This means that the Steering Group moves to a more formal footing as a Board of Trustees. Having charitable status enables us to apply for a bank account and also to apply for stage 1 funding from the Scottish Land Fund, which is well underway.

We are urgently seeking residents willing to be part of the Board as either a Trustee or to help with tasks ahead such as the asset transfer of the Forestry and Land buildings. We also have a number of community issues that we are trying to progress and would welcome input and help with these. If you want to know more about being a Trustee please get in touch. It is not as onerous as you may think.

We are also aware that our community has a wealth of experience within it. We would be grateful if you could share what skills and knowledge you have that could be drawn on to enhance the development of the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for our community.

For those of you who didn’t get the opportunity to see the Forestry Buildings situated at Lock 8. Below is a YouTube video taken by a member of the Steering Group.

Logo Competition

There were 37 entries from the Lochgilphead School Campus which were all of a very high standard. These were displayed at the Cairnbaan Hotel where residents who viewed them were able to select their favourites. The top 3 were then judged by 3 members of the community and attached is a video of how the winner came up with their design. A huge thank you to the teacher and pupils who partnered with us to develop the logo.
