In the of summer 2024, Cairnbaan Community Trust was delighted to be awarded £5,000 from the Nadara A’Chruach Wind Farm Community Fund to make a short film, entitled We are Cairnbaan. It focuses on our village, past, present and future, largely through the eyes of people who live in it. Cairnbaan has experienced the loss of its primary school, its shop and its hotel in recent years and the film captures the impact of these losses, together with residents’ hopes for a future with more community resources.
We are Cairnbaan was directed and produced by Joe Osborn, a fisherman and film maker living and working from Carsaig (Carsaig Films). Joe worked closely with the Community Trust in making the film over two month period. With nowhere in the village to screen it, the film has been shown at the Egg Shed in Ardrishaig and at local Community Council meetings.
Comments on the Film from those who have seen it include “Really enjoyed the film and hearing from local people”, “Stunning Scenery, sells the area very well” and “The film shows a wonderful sense of community and really does emphasise the need for a community hub”.
We are Cairnbaan is now available on our web site below so please watch it and hopefully you will enjoy it.
